Hey Green Geeks!

It's been such a long time since we've blogged but we are picking things up and doing so Green Geek style - talking about food.

We have been getting quite a few questions about cleanses recently and we are here to clarify some things and dive a little deeper into the amazing world of juice cleanses.

Juicing has been around for much, much longer than you may think and it's actually very common. Like anything else you do you would want to prepare yourself for a juice cleanse. I don't know about you but I certainly would not go sign myself up for a 5K expecting to come in first place or even top 10 without the proper training and mental readiness.....right! So the same principle applies for a juice cleanse - prepare! prepare! prepare! Some of us are warriors and we are able to just push through anything like it's nothing and I want to be like you when I grow up but in the meantime here are some solid tips to finishing strong when cleansing.

Rest assured that every cleanse we have on our menu has personally been tested by us and so these are things that truly helped us come out feeling renewed and refreshed and ready for that 5K! READY?

TIP 1.

A cleanse is a good thing! You are consuming so much more veggies and fruits in one bottle than you would in a salad! It's amazing!! The first juice you drink to kick off your day in our Jumpstart cleanse is Kale Yeah which has more than 5 pounds of fruits and vegetables in it. WOW! Let that one sink in for a minute. Our juices are packed with fresh, organic (when available), never frozen fruits and vegetables which will help you gain the maximum results!

TIP 2.

Not only is this a great life habit, it's also a good way for you to jot down how you're feeling during your cleanse and a stepping stone toward getting a focused look at what your highs and dips look like so you could prepare yourself for your next cleanse. I found that writing things down helped. This is what my daily juice journal looked like:

- when i got a craving

-what that craving was

-what i did to help combat the craving

-did it work? did it not work? what would i have done differently?

-what juice was i drinking when i got the craving and how much of the juice did i drink when i got the craving?

-did i give up? did i want to give up?

-was it challenging?

-did i feel hungry? headaches?......etc!

This gave me a firsthand look at how my day was and I literally did a bullet for every hour and wrote down what every hour felt like for me and what my work load was for that hour. It made the cleanse easier because I could look back the next day and prepare myself for what my body naturally does during the day.  I highly encourage you to grab a journal and write down your experience as you cleanse. Share them with us or keep it for yourself - frame it and hang it on the wall....why not! It's an accomplishment. OK maybe that isn't all that necessary but you are going to be feel so proud of yourself after!

3. EAT!

I don't know why but there is this misconception that you cannot eat during a cleanse. There is no such thing as giving your digestive system a rest! That's impossible. What you are doing during a cleanse is easing the work, your digestive system never stops working.....you never want that to happen! Don't believe the hype about you not being able to eat during a cleanse. It is important to be mindful of what you eat - now that's gold. During your cleanse you are encouraged to snack on veggie sticks, sprouts and even lightly steamed veggies are great add ins to your day. The closer it can come from your fridge or your own hands the better, if you don't have any of these on hand the fresher the better! Your body will tell you what it wants to do so listen to it. Don't try and fight the urge to chew just be careful to not overdo it. The key is light food, no salt, no sugar, no caffeine, no carbs just keep it clean.

Don't we all? You are not a robot and it's not the end of the world if you had a snack and fell off the schedule a bit! Remember this is why you chose to do a juice cleanse in the first place. I remember the first time I did a juice cleanse about 7 years ago, by the second hour I was ordering Chinese fried rice with extra sweet and sour sauce telling them to send it quick!! Thank goodness I am in a much better place now and with each cleanse it got easier and more enjoyable, plus as I educated myself about the true benefits and what I am allowed to do during my cleanse made it fun! I actually had fun cleansing guys and you will too!

Have you ever heard the saying, "There's strength in numbers", well this couldn't be more applicable to doing a juice cleanse. Whenever we've tested the cleanses, we did them together and we can get super competitive! There is no way he's finishing his juice before me! She hasn't snacked yet? Well I can't either! We both finished strong and was ready to smash the next cleanse. Having some to call and to talk to about cravings or for support made the cleanse so much more manageable. Try cleansing with a friend, there's so much for both of you to gain.

We provide you with a daily success guide that comes in your cleanse package. This guide offers reference points for the day, and of course we are always available if you ever need anything. We are so excited for all of your who will be cleansing this week and next week! The benefits of cleansing are great and you will not regret doing a juice cleanse.

Thank you so much for making it to this point! You're so awesome. If you are ready to order your juice cleanse you can do so here or send us an email and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
